Tag-Along Garnet Tour
Join fellow fossickers on our tag-along tour in the search for rich red garnets. You WILL find gems! Departure time from April to September is 9am sharp. In summer when the staff have all gone home, occasional tours may be arranged, departing at 6am to beat the heat. To avoid disappointment, please ring ahead to inquire if a tour is possible during the off-season

Tour Includes....
Hire of equipment; experienced guide to show you how and where to fossick successfully; and the appraisal of the stones you have collected on your return.

Tours cost $70 for one or two adults and $5 for each school child. An extra adult sharing a set of equipment is $35.

Zircon Fossicking
While availability is not always possible, guided zircon tours can still be arranged, but when not available,  it is possible for park guests to hire a limited supply of fossicking equipment  if they wish to make their own way to the nearby zircon fields at Mud Tank, 17kms away. Mudmaps and permits will be provided .

Please note that our tours can be booked out for up to three days ahead during peak season (April - September), so it is important to phone and book to avoid disappointment. Remember, mobile range in our remote areas is poor, so be sure to ring before you drop out of range.

Buy a Bucket
For those with a time restraint, there are buckets of garnet bearing gravel brought in from our private garnet lease, that can be fossicked right here at the park - the perfect way to have a 'taste' of the fossicking experience instead of going out to the gem fields. The treasures from your bucket will also be appraised and sorted so you know just what you have! Cost is $25 per bucket. You should be lucky enough to find yourself a few gem quality garnets.

Garnet Gully 
 "Garnet Gully" has proved a popular spot for the children - especially in school holiday time. Situated right here at the caravan park for a fun family activity, you can stake your claim and fossick for a variety of Harts Range minerals, gems and crystals for $10. While you will not find gem quality gems here there will be plenty of interesting specimens for budding junior gemologists to get started on their very own collection. Whatever you find is yours to keep but we do not sort or identify them for you. That will be your challenge!
